1) “A social movement industry that is important to me is political organizations in support of the arts.

Organizations that support the arts in America ask for donations and membership. They also provide all of the tools for me to advocate for the arts in my community. They offer information for the people who are concerned about support for the arts in America. They inform about the political and legal issues facing the arts. They offer easy links to follow legislation affecting the arts and direct links to government representatives. They ask artists in the United States to take surveys to gather data and present how arts are being affected from different angles. They offer a media center where people can follow the news about the arts in America and they have blogs. They all have websites and want anyone to sign up for their emails.

I respond best to the information they provide and the call for membership. I like to be informed about the facts, and that the organizations have done their research about how to best advocate for the arts, and that they offer me the information and tools. It helps me be an activist for the arts in my community.”

I movement that I find very important to me is the women’s rights movement. This movement is very important to me because first I’m a woman, and second I feel that so many women are mistreated as well as taken advantage of because of their gender. I feel that women are constantly dragged down by society. Society throws these ideas at women that they aren’t pretty unless they look a certain way, as well as that they must follow the traditional lifestyle and if you don’t you are sometimes considered less of a woman. I really like that the women’s rights movement empowers women to feel more confident in themselves physically and mentally.”
