Collin County Community College Punctuation Rules Discussion
Did you know that Collin College has an undergraduate research program called Quest? The online journal program encourages Collin students to publish their best research-in-progress work in our undergraduate research journal. You can see the most recent edition of the journal here: Quest: An Interdisciplinary Undergraduate Student Research Journal. (Links to an external site.)
On Thursday, April 22 students who have had their work published in Quest or who are working on current manuscripts will be participating in an online webinar about the experience of researching and publishing their work in Quest.
There are 3 events scheduled for the day at different times; to receive extra credit for this assignment, you will need to attend at least 1 of those sessions (but attending all 3 is greatly encouraged!). All you have to do is register for the session and then join it during the scheduled time. It’s all online, so you can tune in from wherever you are!
View the program and then use your Collin email account to register for the webinar here: Quest Online Research Symposium. (Links to an external site.)

-
Before the event, download and read this article from US News and World Report on what undergraduate research is and why it is an important opportunity for college students: Why Undergraduate Research Matters in College download. (Or read it online (Links to an external site.).)
-
Attend the session(s) of your choice and take notes on what the presenters discuss.
-
Respond: After the event is completed, use the “Text Entry” submission option of this assignment OR upload a file (doc, docx, pdf) to leave your key takeaways from the discussion and the experience. Use one quotation from the article and reference at least one comment from the presenter(s). Possible questions to address: What key detail sticks with you after the event? What types of questions interest you enough to research? What do you understand about undergraduate research now that you didn’t before you attended the event? Do you have a project or a paper that you would like to submit to Quest? Thinking forward, does the school you want to transfer to offer undergraduate research opportunities? How likely are you to take advantage of this type of opportunity?
