For this assignment you will listen to Episode 38 (Links to an external site.) of the podcast Twenty Thousand Hertz (formerly
Twenty Parts Per Thousand) This episode explores the musical elements
in our speech: in particular; rhythm, timbre and pitch. The episode is
18 minutes long. I recommend listening in headphones/earbuds for the
best experience. (If for some reason the link to the episode is not
working this free podcast can also be found in the Android or iTunes
stores).

After you’ve listened to the entire 18 minute episode you will answer the following questions:

1. do you agree with the premise that we use rhythm, timbre, and pitch in our speech?
2. use an example from the podcast to support your answer to question 1.
3. give an example of your own speech that demonstrates one or more of the three elements (rhythm, timbre, pitch)
4. choose your favorite speaker, actor, or poet who
   demonstrates some or all of these elements and write a short description
   of what you like about the way that they speak
