Walden University Are They Born Criminals Discussion

Today, a great deal is known about individuals with psychopathy who are caught committing crime. Thanks to the work of Dr. Robert Hare and many others, psychopathy may be one of the most important constructs in today’s criminal justice system. Thinking about psychopaths, the age-old question comes to mind: Is it nature or is it nurture? Are these individuals born as “bad seeds,” or do their environments shape their behavior?

In this week’s Discussion, you will analyze Dr. Hare’s construct and evaluate how it may be applied to assessing risk facets within today’s criminal justice system.

To prepare

  • View the video, The Psychopath Next Door, available in the Learning Resources.
  • Review the items/factors associated with psychopathy as shown in the Learning Resources.
