After reading “IEP Transition Planning: Preparing for Young Adulthood” and “Sample IEP Transition Plan and Goals” review this scenario and respond to the questions in a minimum of 175 words:

You are a high school teacher who provides special education services to a female student who is very interested in teaching as a career. You believe this student (who has cerebral palsy) is being discouraged from pursuing this profession by her family and is quite upset.

• How would you speak with the student and maintain respect for the family?
• How might you intervene in a way that supports both the student and the family? Explain and provide specific examples to support your rationale.
