2 sections that need to be completed 

First section is a definition on literacy, strategies you would use to collect family information and the types of questions you would ask in a questionnaire (300 words).

Second section will include 3 children and you must write a one – two paragraph analysis of these child with specific details about language/s spoken, family literacy practices, and interests.

Provide an annotated list of three literacy resources that are relevant for this child. The annotation for each resource needs to explain why you selected that resource and must clearly link to and build on the child’s family literacies. You must use relevant references to support your decisions. Include a balance of paper and digital texts, texts in relevant languages other than English, texts that can be integrated into children’s play and texts designed to engage children in critical literacy that are age-appropriate and related to the child’s interests and family and community experiences.

Include books as well as environmental print such as menus, timetables and so on relevant to the child’s interests and experiences. Bibliographic details must be included for all books, music, websites, and apps in the reference list.

Write a reflection on your own learnings about family literacies and the educator’s role in building on family literacies and extending literacy learning in literacy-enriched play, shared book experiences and interactions that scaffold critical literacy.
