The term paper is an intervention plan of around 3,000 words, on the w ay to work with an older person with psycho-social-behavioral problems. It should adopt a culturally- sensitive, ethical, and wholistic approach to analyze the c lient’ s presenting and underlying problems, to design an intervention plan and evaluation method, and to provide illustrations on the intervention strategies.
Requirement: Identify an elder having some psycho-social problems either from your work experience or from your personal contact.
a.Describing the elder: Give a brief outline of the physio-s oc io-psychological problem(s) and other relevant background of the elder.
b.Need identification: Diagnose his/her presenting as well as underlying problems. You are expected to suggest and attach a few specific assessment tool(s), preferably validated in Chinese, to be used in need assessment.
c.Intervention plan: indicate the intervention objectives, s pec if ic therapeutic model(s)/techniques and other action plan to be used to achieve each intervention objective. You are suggested to critically analysis why your chosen model/techniques may help.
d.You should give at least five examples of verbal t wo-way communication in Chinese or English according to the mother tongue of the client, to illustrate how the counselling skills /techniques will be carried out in actual practice w ith the service user.
e.Evidence-based practice: please indicate how you assess the effectiveness of your intervention. This usually involves the identification of outcome indicators, e.g., depression, sleep quality (be as specific and measurable as possible) for each and every intervention objective, and how you can measure the extent to which these indicators are fulfilled (e.g., by whom, when and how). You are encouraged to use some validated measurement tools (e.g. Geriatric Depression Scale) to assess possible changes in the elder.
f.Anticipated difficulties and your contingency plan.
