I’m working on a criminal justice discussion question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.

Chapter 6 

In a previous module, we discussed how modern societies tend to use more formal structures for resolving conflict whereas traditional societies tend to use more informal structures. After reviewing the chapter, it seems one could almost conclude that the American judiciary is attempting to supplant the formal method of conflict resolution with “informal” methods such as mediation and arbitration. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Why or why not?
