Three Disaster Case Analysis

Overview

Throughout the course, you have been working on your Three Disaster Case Analysis to compare the information and related resources provided with respect to the 9/11 attacks, Hurricane Katrina, and Hurricane Sandy. In this module, you will submit your final copy of the analysis.

Instructions

Review and revise your case analysis to ensure you provide information on the governmental response to these events, addressing the following areas for each disaster event:

The technology and plans in place before each event

How the technology and plans were utilized before, during, and after the event

The effectiveness of the National Response Framework, the National Incident Management, and the Incident Command System (please note that there have been name changes, additions, etc., during the time frame under consideration)

  • The decision-makers and their communication and collaboration with various stakeholders
  • The quality of decisions made by all levels of government and the private sector in light of various systems and data available
  • The consequences of those decisions, both short-term and long-term, to both government and the private sector
  • The lessons learned, including what worked and didn’t work for each disaster event, why, and recommendations to avoid the same problems from occurring in the future
  • Please note that you are to address all three events with your paper, not just one or two.

Submission Guidelines and Rubric

  • The Three Disaster Case analysis is worth 100 points.

Your analysis will culminate into a minimum 2,500-word paper (excluding the required title page, table of contents, abstract, and a reference page).

  • The paper is prepared according to APA (7th ed.) style for headings and subheadings, in-text citations, and reference list.

You will be required to submit the paper as a Microsoft Word document to Safe Assign via the Assignment Link in Blackboard.

The paper will be graded based on the breadth and depth of the information presented, the evaluation provided, and the documentation submitted from the text and outside sources.

Your paper should include a minimum of 10 references from other outside sources.
