GCC Personal Statement Discussion
1. )
A personal statement is required and assists the Admissions Committee in selecting an outstanding entering class. It is also used to assess each applicant’s written English skills. The personal statement provides each applicant with the opportunity to describe the uniqueness of their character, abilities, and experience.
Personal statements may detail the applicant’s interest in the law as well as their particular interest in Loyola Law School. Applicants may also write about academic history, community service activities, professional experience, and interest in law school. In the case of prior disadvantage, the Admissions Committee is interested in how the applicant has dealt with or overcome such adversity. The personal statement should be typed, double-spaced, and submitted (electronically attached) with the application. Required font size of the personal statement is 10 pt or larger; recommended length is 2-3 pages.
The personal statement must be the original work of the applicant. The applicant’s LSAC account number should appear on all documents.
2. You are required to submit a personal statement as part of your application. It should be limited to four double-spaced pages. The thoughts and words contained therein must be your own and no one else should assist in its creation beyond basic proofreading or critiquing. The subject matter of the statement is up to you, but keep in mind that the reviewer will be focused on determining your potential to be a successful law student and graduate of Berkeley Law. We seek to enroll a class with varied backgrounds and interests.
If applicable, you may describe any disadvantages that may have adversely affected your past performance and which you successfully have overcome. These may include linguistic barriers or a personal or family history of cultural, educational, or socioeconomic disadvantage. If you wish, you may discuss how your interests, background, life experiences, and perspectives might contribute to the diversity of our student body. This discussion may either be incorporated into your personal statement or provided in a short appended statement. We ask that you also include a résumé of your past and current employment history, extracurricular activities, interests, and honors.
I will provide a little bit about my life and you can just add on
My name is Nektar Sandrosyan and i am 21 years old.
Why I want to be a lawyer.
- I grew up in a family where my dad was a lawyer (in Armenia)
- Because I grew up with such a lawyer-oriented family, I always respect and appreciate the law.
- My whole life I had passion to pursue law and help people with their fundamental freedoms and rights.
- I was obsessed with becoming a lawyer.
- I graduated high school in Armenia and got accepted into one of the most popular universities (Yerevan State University Faculty of law), however, I had to give everything up and move to the USA, because my country slowly by slowly was falling apart.
- I came to the USA in February 2018, and started my educating right away,
- I attended Los Angeles Valley College, received my associate degree in 2020, and then transferred to University of California Riverside. I’ll get my BA in June 2022.
- I had to overcome a lot of obstacles (financial, language, cultural shock), in order to archive my lifelong goal. (Juris Doctor (JD) DEEGREE.)
The reason why I chose this institute…
I would be honored to attend Layola Marymount University.
- I have always admired this university.
- My cousins attended there
- This is one of the most popular uni.s
- It was my dream.
I know that becoming a professional and successful lawyer, requires a lot of education and experience.
Being a lawyer means to being able to have deep psychological skills, be able react with their client, and to separate their emotions with business.
