I’m working on a Criminal Justice exercise and need support.

The Sedition Act was an early attempt to limit freedom of the press and free speech by providing an avenue for government officials to limit criticism of their official acts.  Please discuss the problems with the Sedition Act and similar attempts to limit free speech and freedom of the press (and other fundamental freedoms) in a democracy.  Cite to specific portions of the reading.  

What are some recent attempts we have seen by public officials who have sought to limit criticism of their official actions?  Are those attempts to limit free speech similar to the limitations sought under the Sedition Act?  How are they also different?
