According to Lynn Steen, Everybody Counts: A Report to the Nation on the Future of Mathematics Education (Washington, D.C.: National Academy Press, 1989), “Mathematics is alive and constantly changing.  As we complete the last decade of this century, we stand on the threshold of major changes in the mathematics curriculum in the United States.” In keeping with the present changes in the delivery of education and the learning environment, NCTM published a joint document to provide guidance for mathematics teachers and leaders at all levels to make informed decisions for the next steps due to COVID-19.
