Thomas Edison state University Probability Worksheet

I’m working on a probability question and need support to help me learn.

The figure provided below shows a simple (five pipes) water distribution network designed to deliver water from a reservoir to a town. Suppose that the probability of any single pipe failing during a 7.0 Richter earthquake is p. What is the probability that some water will still get through after such an earthquake? Evaluate for p=0.3. What assumption(s) are you making when you calculate this probability? What may be a better design for the water distribution network? Why? What factors are you taking into consideration when you create your design?
