I have picked Sally from September 16, 2020 that hit Florida then Alabama. If I would have been governor of either Alabama or Florida, I would have kept up on the weather and made sure everyone knew to buckle down. I would have made sure everyone had help to board up all there windows and if there was not enough help I would have done everything in my power to make sure that my people had the help the needed and deserve to be ready for this hurricane. After the hurricane had made land fall I would had shelters on higher ground with food and warm clothes and blankets. I would of had people like the national guard on call to try and make sure no looting happened. I would have had security or even the national guard at the shelters also to make sure no fights break or rapes or anything like that. It is a lot to say you would do these things but it is is even harder to actually get them done.

Hurricane Dorian began from a tropical storm over the Atlantic Ocean on August 24, 2019. By September 1, Dorian was categorized as a category 5 hurricane. The winds got up to 185 miles per hour. This hurricane did over 1.2 billion dollars in damage and also caused 74 deaths. The warm moist air began to rise over the water. The rising air became cooler air and the water in the air forms clouds. Dorian’s path affected people who lived along the eastern coast of the U.S. By September 10, the hurricane had calmed down at was near Greenland. It was one of the most powerful hurricanes to make landfall from the Atlantic Ocean.

If I was governor, I would have had mandatory evacuations for the residents. I would have put sandbags on as many businesses and homes as possible. There would have been windows boarded up around my city. I would encourage people to get non perishable items and plenty of water. There would also have been a safe area set up like at a school gymnasium to house displaced people and also animals. I would have portable generators ready in case people lost power in their homes and businesses.
