Jackson State University Physics Newtons 3rd Law Question

I’m working on a physics discussion question and need an explanation to help me learn.

This Week’s Question: We’re covering Newton’s 3rd Law. Newton’s laws set the basics for a lot of motion.

Newton’s 1st Law states that an object in motion will continue in motion and an object at rest will continue at rest unless acted upon by an outside force.

Newton’s 2nd Law you’ll be working with in the problems. It states that the net force on an object is equal to the mass times the acceleration of the object.

Newton’s 3rd Law states that for each reaction (force) there is an equal and opposite force.

Consider Newton’s 3rd law under the following circumstances:

A mosquito is south bound on HWY 61 travelling at 0.1 m/s. A north bound semi-truck travelling at 30 m/s runs into the mosquito.

Does the mosquito exert just as much force on the truck as the truck exerts on the mosquito?
