The human-machine system we chose is a manual through-hole assembly to WAVE soldering system. The process starts with an operator getting the correct mold for the PCB that will be sent through the WAVE. Another operator who is trained to use the WAVE soldering machine then uses the screen attached to the WAVE to set the width of the feeding track and speed depending on what PCB is going to be fed into the WAVE. The PCB is then set into the mold and an operator assembles the through-hole parts based on instructions that are shown on a computer in front of them. The operator cycles through the steps using a foot pedal. Once assembly is complete the operator adds flux to the board and sets the mold holding the board into the feeder tracks. The tracks slowly move the board along and into the WAVE where it is heated, and then passed over the soldering area.
