Introduction Speech Outline

I’m working on a writing question and need guidance to help me learn.

The grade for this assignment incorporates both the actual presentation of your introduction speech video and outline grade. Your Week 2 Written Assignment is to provide the OUTLINE for your Introduction speech. This is not to be written in manuscript form, rather, it should be the outline of what you will present. In addition to submitting the document, please copy and paste your work in the assignments submission area. There is an example of the document on the homepage, marked “Example of Submission for Introduction Speech.” To view a sample outline format, go onto the Modules page and scroll towards the bottom and you will see a link for the outline.

Speech Directions:

In this speech, you will introduce yourself to a live audience of at least 2 other people by explaining how the three songs you have chosen as favorites represent who you are. Remember, this isn’t a speech about the artist; it’s a speech about you. When thinking about your speech content, consider how you would answer the question, “how do these songs exemplify who I am?” Or, “how do they represent me (etc)?”

The speech should be between 3 and 4 minutes long, should have a creative introduction, a body that expresses and supports the main points, and a memorable conclusion. If you want, you may choose to talk about 3 books, 3 movies, 3 characters, (etc) instead of the songs. To receive credit for this speech, each member of your audience MUST introduce themselves by first name, with the tape continuously running or you may pan the audience and have them announce their names. You must also provide evidence that the audience is present and paying attention by interacting or panning a shot of the audience during your speech. THE AUDIENCE SHOULD PAY ATTENTION AND THERE SHOULD BE NO ANNOYING NOISES AND DISTRACTIONS! You must position the camera in a way that you are facing both your AUDIENCE and the camera. In any case, you present the speech TO THE AUDIENCE. You must STAND for the speech. No editing is allowed!

HINTS: DO NOT READ YOUR SPEECH WORD-FOR-WORD. THIS SPEECH IS TO BE PRESENTED IN EXTEMPORANEOUS STYLE. USE AN OUTLINE INSTEAD OF A FULLY WRITTEN OUT MANUSCRIPT TO PRESENT YOUR SPEECH. DIRECT READING WILL AFFECT YOUR GRADE NEGATIVELY. FACE YOUR AUDIENCE, AND USE A CREATIVE INTRODUCTION, NOT “HI, I’M ____ AND I AM GOING TO INTRODUCE MYSELF.”
