Narrative Structure Analysis

I don’t understand this Writing question and need help to study.

Purpose

This activity introduces narrative structure and asks you to apply narrative structure analysis to the story you wrote for our class.

Knowledge / Skills

The video explains narrative structural elements including:

  • focus/change
  • exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution
  • sequence of events

Tasks

  • Watch the video
  • Read over the story you turned in.
  • Analyze and identify the structure of your story.
  • Write a discussion board post in which you reply to the following questions (copying these questions into your post will make it easier). Write your responses to the questions in complete sentences. Also assume the person reading your post has not read your story, so you will need to provide details from your story in your responses. See the examples below.

Excellent response:

  1. What is the focus of your story?

The focus of my story is on how Goldilocks, a little girl, overcomes adversity and persists in her search for nourishing food and a comfortable place to sleep.

Needs work:

1. courage
