Increasing the sworn personnel in the field will not reduce crime in an urban zone. When thinking that increasing the number of officers will help reduce crime in urban areas would not be a good assumption to make. I say this because the US have a high population already and that means we would have to hire a lot of officers that would have the qualifications (Worrall, J. L. (2014). The way the society is now more and more officers are dying and there is a shortage of officers. Not many people would want to become an officer and with the police reform not many departments can afford to hire more officers. Most people when committing a crime don’t care about the presence of an officer. In certain neighborhoods the ones with high crime rates have less officers and less resources.
