When thinking that increasing the number of officers will help reduce crime in urban areas would not be a good assumption to make. I say this because the US have a high population already and that means we would have to hire a lot of officers that would have the qualifications (Worrall, J. L. (2014). The way the society is now more and more officers are dying and there is a shortage of officers. Not many people would want to become an officer and with the police reform not many departments can afford to hire more officers. Most people when committing a crime don’t care about the presence of an officer. In certain neighborhoods the ones with high crime rates have less officers and less resources.
