Choose only ONE question per topic, and write a coherent, well-organized essay, using concepts from the text of no less that 400-450 words (Three full Paragraphs) that responds to the question in its entirety. Following direction from section 5 (grading system) of syllabus–write clearly, include what you have learned in this unit without copying, cite your source, and apply the concept learned to the topic chosen. Read directions carefully and cover all aspects in a logical, well-organized essay.

OR

Watch the video on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator by Jean Kummerow. Then choose a different theorists presented in chapter 11 of the textbook and describe that psychologist theories. Then compare and contrast the difference and/or similarities of these two theorists (One you chose in Chapter 11 vs. Jean Kummerow). For full credit, you must cite and reference the information from the textbook and video.

In chapter 11, you will see a fast variety of theorists and areas of study regarding the exploration, research, and human desire to understand others and oneself. This area of study is the more “traditional” study and view of what is called “Psychology”. You will note that this chapter is very long as it covers many of these theorists who are highly significant in the study of psychology. Read and study this well, particularity if you plan to major in any area of psychology as you will be expected to know these core theorists and their key concepts of Personality.

The study of personality has been of interest to many people throughout the ages. Many, in fact, have tried to identify “psychological types” as a means of categorizing people according to personality. Most of these efforts lack rigorous scientific support, however, although they remain of interest to people searching for an identity.

The following TEDx Talks video by Jean Kummerow (MBTI assessment expert) explains the main categories of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, a personality test that focuses on the positive traits (not psychological disorders) she explains. I have found this indicator (test) to be the most reliable and effective tool in understanding oneself and others: within marriage, work, school and other social situations. Most high schools and colleges use this as one of the testing measurements for career guidance. Some people share confusion over the category titles and avoid it’s use, but it is scientifically researched as one of the most accurate personality test if used and applied as designed. Watch the following video to get a clear explanation of the categories and the application of this indicator personality test.
