Challenge your critical thinking skills.  You must choose a position, either position 1 or position 2.  You must research the issue and provide support for your position from other sources such as textbooks, articles, journals, newspapers, etc. Your paper needs to be a minimum of 500 words not including references.  You must include 3 references supporting your perspective. The references need to be presented in APA format both within the body of the essay and in the reference list. Please double space your perspective.

The debate paper must be submitted in Word as an attachment and placed in the dropbox. 

The debate assignments are designed to develop your critical thinking skills. You will be using your research skills to build strong support for your position. You will construct the debate paper to present your position with the facts and perspectives related to your position.

Position 1 – The police have the primary responsibility for the reduction of crime in a community and the success or failure of community relations.   

Position 2 – The citizens have the primary responsibility for the reduction of crime in their communities and the success or failure of community relations.
