In the introduction to Just Mercy, Stevenson discusses his family’s background and what impact that had on his character development and career choices. What influences has your family had in regard to how you respond to people of various ethnicities and socio-economic groups?

Write a narrative that centers on your family’s history and the role it played in the development of your thoughts and ideas, especially as an adult.  What events do you remember?  What statements do you remember hearing from family members, statements that influenced the ways you act and think?
