Description

In this 4-5 page essay, you will apply a rhetorical perspective covered in class to analyze a popular culture artifact (music, video game, movie, TV show, podcast, fashion, meme, etc.). You will choose which perspective you will use in your critique during week two.

You may not write your essay on the same topic that you will be covering in your Reading Response and Discussion Prep.

Instructions

1. Choose a rhetorical artifact and formulate a research question using your chosen rhetorical perspective.
2. Research your artifact. You can use the component parts of Rhetorical Situation as your guide: author, occasion, artifact, exigence, constraints. Use two sources about your artifact in your paper.
3. Research your rhetorical perspective. Start with the definition from your textbook. Then find one other scholarly source. Use two sources about the rhetorical perspective in your paper.
4. Outline your argument/paper. See outline below.
5. Write and format according to guidelines. See formatting instructions below.

1. Introduction (includes thesis statement)

   • Define/explain rhetorical perspective
