I say this because the stories provided with Hurston’s presence were not based on mythical beliefs which happened to still be held today (such as Western werewolf beliefs) but are practiced with evidence today. The testimonies, such as the one between the man and the voice had been based on strict practices which went on for a long time and had multiple encounters. Since anthropology also relies on physical observation to align theories/ beliefs with some form of evidence, which is seen with the captured image of Felicia Felix the zombie. Another reason for the possibility of explanation is the fact the there have been cases where a deceased individual has been buried and later seen wandering the streets, such as the zombie found by Dr. Rulx Léon or the little boy who cried out to his mother to ‘save him’. Essentially, zombies and the dead may not be explainable scientifically, but could certainly be explained spiritually, as noted by the houngans and bocors.”
