University of Maryland Baltimore Blood Alcohol Concentration Level Discussion

Part 1.Describe the economic burden of alcohol use and why or why not it is problematic in your life. Include at least three concepts covered in the readings and how they apply to your particular life circumstances. Include information from your perspective of someone impacted individually, or as a member of U. S. society, by alcohol use burden and respond to two of your classmates’ postings. Do not repeat the readings; rather, post about your experiences in our society referencing alcohols economic burden.

Remember to understand and respect the Maryland state boundaries of confidentiality in your postings referencing child abuse and neglect as noted in the syllabus.

Part 2 (Virginia)

Identify your state of residence and how your state defines blood alcohol concentration level. What is the law for a first time DUI offense in your state and what is the current documented DUI fatality rate in your state? Describe amendments that you would propose to the current laws (higher or lower BAL standards, increased criminal justice standards, immediate enforcement, mandatory incarceration, etc.) Please respond to two students from different states – look into their alcohol statistics and after identifying a group most at risk for alcohol abuse/dependence in their respective states suggest your own measures to help mitigate the problem. Remember to present your own amendments to current laws that you believe will help remedy the issue.

Part 3.

Several treatment settings and treatment modalities such as outpatient, inpatient, AA, group therapy, internet therapy, etc. are identified in Week 3’s literature. Think about your social media campaign selected population and identify one setting that would work best for your population of interest and state why based on the literature. Detail why you believe it is a best fit for your population.

Also, respond to two students who have selected a different treatment setting and identify a strength for one setting and a weakness for another setting.
