The discussion portion of the MRAD model is where you relate what you found to the existing academic conversation. It should work as follows:

First, discuss the significance of your findings. What was expected, unexpected, cool, noteworthy, cringey- whatever the bigger meaning of the Results section is. This should be at least one paragraph.

Second, discuss how these results fit into the existing conversation you established in the CARS Introduction. How does it relate to Dirk and/or Hart-Davidson? How does it talk back to the existing conversation/gap/continued tradition/question raised that you indicated in Move 2? Call out your sources from Move 1 Step 3 specifically- for example, if “Brown says ….” what do your results mean for Brown’s assertions? This portion should be 2-3 pages in multiple paragraphs.

Finally, how could your research potentially lead to more research in this vein of inquiry? How can it move the conversation forward? Did you find something significant that could be the source of further study? Or did you notice there is something happening that you didn’t include in your research, but could be an area someone else could pursue? This portion should be one paragraph, and this is in place of the traditional conclusion where you re-state the main points of your paper.
