My Essay topic is- How we need more African American curriculum in schools. From pre k all the way to college. (Learning our history is a necessity on how we better understand ourselves.)

You can use that line btw. “I am African American and most of my history I’ve managed to learn it all by myself. My mother provided me with encyclopedias and dictionaries and allowed me to utilize the internet all by myself so I could get a broad and deeper understanding of my history. As I began to sprout off into public school, I had all black teachers and staff, but we only learned about African American history in February. I was told about the traditional Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks and I thought that that was it. Black History Month is the only time I was shown true appreciation of my roots.”
