Ivy Tech Community College Racial Justice in the Black Lives Movement Questions

For your initial post in this discussion, you will write 15 questions to ask the respondents you plan to interview for your primary research.

When writing your interview questions, be sure to do the following:

  • In 1-2 sentences, briefly define your topic.
  • Record guiding research question.
  • Identify the two people you plan to interview. Also identify whether each is a representative respondent or an expert respondent (see the reading from Part 4 our online textbook, 4.6 Forms of Primary Research for help with this terminology), as well as their professional credentials (expert) or relevance to your research topic (representative).
  • Write 15 interview questions that pertain to one or both of your respondents. As you write them, try to apply the traits of effective interview questions, as described in the reading from Part 4 of our online textbook, 4.7 Writing Effective Interview Questions. Note: This may not be all the questions you need to ask in your interviews but it should be a sufficient number to receive feedback from your peers on the quality of your interview questions.
  • Identify which respondent your questions are for. If you are conducting two representative interviews or two expert interviews, then it is possible that the same questions will apply to both respondents. But if you are conducting one representative interview and one expert interview, then you will probably need different questions for each. Make sure it is clear who will be asked each question.
