In this course, you have been exposed to how Big Data can be used to analyze and solve certain economic and social problems. For this question, you will select one article of interest to you that uses Big Data to analyze a specific economic and social problem and write a short summary (not more than one page typed and double spaced). Specifically, you should describe how the article uses the Big Data and summarize the conclusions of the article. Examples of applications could include one of the following (but you should feel free to choose any article including those mentioned on the course outline):

  • Big Data and health (e.g. to predict flu epidemic)
  • Big Data and race
  • Big Data and business (e.g., predict sales, or just a description of how one company such as Walmart, MasterCard, Telus, Uber, etc. uses big data)

  • Big Data and racial discrimination
  • Big Data and elections etc.
