Use video and textbook concepts to support your ideas.

Chapter 10 includes topics on how emotion is connected to behavior as well as exploring theories of the important factors that motivate behavior. Often motivation, or lack of, is connected to the term “resistance” or as Seth Godin and Terry Burnham call the “Lizard Brain”. Below are 3 videos that explore the concept of “Lizard Brain” and how it related to emotion, motivation, and decision making.

Below you will see: 1) a short YouTube video about how this affects us and short ideas on breaking the resistance of fear to accomplish goals. This is addressing the type of fear that paralyzes us: abnormal fear. 2) The video and transcript of short video from News Hour. It exemplifies how the brain, and what Terry Burnham describers as the “Lizard Brain”, effects cognitive reasoning and our emotions in practical situations, this one particularly with economics and financial markets (how we make decisions about money). This information can be translated to other areas of our lives in how we make decisions. 3) Seth Godin describing how to overcome resistance to manage the part of the brain labeled “Lizard Brain” and find success to finish ideas and goals.
