I’m working on a english question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.

In this week’s discussion board, you are simply writing a proposal for your topic along with a working thesis statement. What is your working thesis right now? Your research paper must be argumentative.

I will approve your topic and give you guidance on how to tighten up your thesis for research. Once a topic has been approved, another student CAN NOT choose the same topic. If, for some reason, your topic needs work before approval, I will offer suggestions for changes and you can re-submit for approval. Therefore, it is imperative that you review you original post for my comments! All students must have their topics approved before beginning work on their final papers. Students who do not have their topics approved but complete/submit a final paper will be given a grade of zero.

It cannot be a topic associated with abortion, capital punishment, bullying, or the legalization of marijuana.

This culminating research paper will require you to synthesize everything you have learned about research and incorporating sources to support an argument. As discussed in class, when writing argument one must:

1. choose a topic that has an opposing viewpoint
2. choose a stance on the topic
3. include a refutation and/or concession about the topic

Once your topic is approved, you are off to the races and can really begin researching and writing for your final paper!

Since you do not have to respond to a classmate this week, your original discussion board post–in this case, your topic proposal and working thesis statement–is due by Wednesday at 11:59 PM.
