I need an explanation for this English question to help me study.

Assignment: The Research Proposal is an introduction of your topic. It asks you to identify what you’re writing about and the argument you’re making, as well as explaining why and how you’re writing about it – why does it interest you? Are you planning to offer a new viewpoint? Are you responding to a specific incident/person? What is it you hope to accomplish with your argument?

Think of this like a conversation (in a slightly more academic/formal tone than just talking amongst friends). If someone asked what you’re writing about, this paper would be your answer to explain it to them. It is NOT a research paper – this is not where you try to prove your argument/point; this is an introduction to the topic to set up your argument later on.

Consider the proposal as a draft of your introduction for the final version of your research essay – you can re-use this information/writing when you do the essay, so treat this seriously.
