Writing Homework Help

California State University Different Types of the Literacy Narrative Discussion

No one in the class is new to using language, but we bring a variety of experiences to the class. I want to be sure to use your talents and challenge you to improve in meaningful ways. Writing about your experiences with writing, language, and literacy can help you and me understand what you bring with you to the class.

  • Maybe you grew up speaking another language.
  • Maybe you love research.
  • Maybe you’re not comfortable with how people expect you to sound at the University.
  • Maybe you love writing but hate formal essays.
  • Maybe you’re not used to writing in your own voice because you’ve written how all of your teachers required you to sound.
  • Maybe you’re a confident writer in academics.

We each bring different perspectives to the writing classroom, and each one can help foster important perspectives in our community.

For this assignment, I’d like to hear about your perspective. Write a brief literacy narrative about your experience learning to read and write. Can you remember yourself before knowing how to read and write? How do you remember learning? If you know more than one language, how would you describe your relationship with each? Reflect on how your history with spoke and/or written words has shaped you as a writer today.

Because the narrative is about your experience, you should use personal pronouns (I/me/you). It should also sound like you but be polished so you’re sure you’re communicating your intended meaning.
