You can watch any of these films or a TV episode (s), or other examples you find that are appropriate, which directly relates the film to the them/topic in the class. These are available on most streaming services and some are available through the library or the library service, Kanopy.

You can earn up 1-2 points to be added to each midterm grade for one film summary. In other words, if the midterm grade was going to be a 90 it will become a 92. You can do two more summaries later in the course, so you should concentrate on a topic that we have covered….18th century to 1900 for this one.

To get full credit, please write a one-page review that answers the question: Why is this film good or not (or both) to use to teach a particular topic in Modern European History? Please do a little research about the film, and indicate when it was produced and who directed it and whether it should be considered a primary or secondary source. Was it filmed during the time or was it a later reflection? Was it meant to be propaganda or a form of criticism?

You won’t get credit for a plot summary that one can get from IMDB, but specifically relate how this film fits the themes we have been discussing.
