Using the textbook,  the videos and power points consider the following about the presidency of Andrew Jackson and this transformative period in American history. Reference these resources for a higher score.

During the early 1800’s universal suffrage had extended to all white males. The US, in spite of the fact that black people and women could not vote was the most democratic nation on earth. Andrew Jackson was uniquely prepared to usher in this new, more expansive democracy. He is considered to be one of the most controversial presidents in American history. His presidency is defined by three main events. 

-The Nullification Crisis.

-The War on the Bank

-The Trail of Tears.

For this post you will answer the following questions:

1. How do the events listed above reflect Andrew Jackson’s use/abuse of the authority (and perhaps unlawfully so) of the office of the president of the United States more than any president before him. I other words, how do these events reflect Jacksons use of the power of the presidency in an unprecedented way. You must refer to the learning resources (textbook, ppts, videos) in your post.

2. What were some of the social and cultural beliefs that became widespread during the Age of Jackson? What lay behind these beliefs, and do you observe any of them in American culture today?
