The topic for this imaginary research project is the Opium War, and the imaginary research question is: What was the cause of the Opium War?

When doing your research, you find two online podcasts/videos:

You must evaluate these two sources to decide whether they are useful to your research.  Complete the following questionnaire for EACH of the podcast/videos by providing a one sentence response to each of the following ten (10) questions. Please avoid Yes/No responses:

Please provide a full sentence response to each of the following 10 questions for EACH of the 2 podcast/videos (20 sentences in total).

1. Why was the podcast/video created? (i.e. information, education, instruction, entertainment, advertisement, propaganda)
2. Who is the sponsor/creator of the podcast/video? (i.e. government [what level], educational institution [what level], association [professional, trade, entertainment, etc.], media [major studio, major network, studio, independent, etc.], personal/private [who? why?])
3. Does the creator know what they are talking about? Are they qualified to speak on this topic?
4. Does it have a narrative structure or is it more argumentative? Is it open (inviting discussion) or closed (shutting down discussion)?
5. Does it use evidence? Does it provide examples?
6. Does it address the 5Ws (who, what, when, where, why)?
7. Is the topic covered comprehensively, or is it a partial overview, or a broad overview?
8. Is the video/podcast meant to be serious or satirical? Are they trying to sell you something?
9. Does the video/podcast have a political, social or cultural agenda? If so, what?
10. Is the podcast/video useful with regard to the topic of your research (see above)?
