Soldiers Home No Longer the Home by Ernest Hemingway Essay

Please analyze one of the five elements (plot, character, setting, point of view, or theme) as it creates meaning in any of the stories we have read for class. By the time you write your essay, you will have read twelve stories! Create a thesis-based literary analysis about how the element you’ve chosen works in the story of your choice. Key questions to consider for your particular element are listed in chapter 30 of Literature to Go (“Writing about Fiction” pages 869-870 in the third edition). The sample student essay in that chapter models a thesis statement about how setting creates meaning in the story “A&P” and is an excellent example of how to write a literary analysis. Note that the sample essay does not use outside sources. You don’t have to either. Should you choose to, please document these sources accurately using a MLA Works Cited page.

Required Essay Components:

  1. A title (be creative!)
  2. An introduction that creates reader interest in your paper and provides enough background information that an unfamiliar reader will understand the element you are analyzing
  3. A clear and interesting thesis statement that expresses how your element creates meaning in your story
  4. PIES body paragraph structure (this means using evidence and clearly analyzing that evidence in each body paragraph)
  5. A conclusion that answers the “so what?” question—if what you said about your element is true, what difference does it make? In other words, why do your ideas matter?

***I have done a first draft but it got a bad grade. Could you please re-write/edit my essay in order to get a better grade. It should be more organized and clear on the thesis. And have a good intro and closing. You can change my thesis if they are not good enough. It has to focus on setting. It’s a 5 pages essay.
