Cuyamaca College Attachment Disorder Types Questions
Some questions I still have are;
– Depression along with others are considered a “disorder” – would you consider the “attachment types” as a disorder as well? If yes, why/how? If no, why not?
– Do you think people ever “grow out of” their attachment styles once they reach adulthood? (This ties back to my first question, a lot of people think with treatment depression can be cured, while others believe that people just learn to cope with it and don’t feel the symptoms as heavy). While some articles believe that attachment styles aren’t something that can be grown out of, others suggest that with therapy, it’s something that people can grow out of.
-Let’s say that attachment styles can’t be grown out of – in that instant, how are people who don’t fall in the “secure-attachment” type able to go through everyday life? Is it considered “normal” & what is “normal” to you?
– If attachment styles are something people can grow out of with the help of therapy, in what ways do you think therapy helps? Is it similar to people who have depression/other disorders? If not, why is therapy the only treatment (that I have seen so far) for this?
