Background:

“Safer Injection Sites” are government-run facilities where IV drug users can go to safely inject their drugs.  Drugs are NOT provided to users at these sites (BYOD); however, these sites ARE medically supervised by nurses and addiction counselors, and provide:

Sterile “works” (e.g., needles and other injection supplies)

Emergency overdose care (Narcan/naloxone)

Basic primary healthcare services

Referral to addiction treatment services
