location in Brevard county on Florida

all information I have about my group its

Bridge Program: Works with local organizations such as daily bread to provide temporary housing in motels for those at who have been displaced. Currently these programs are being supported by $150000 of coronavirus relief funds. “Between August 31 and December 30, 2020 45 people used the program and 37 of those were able to find permanent housing. This program shows how providing temporary housing instead of forcing people onto the street can benefit outcomes. A majority of those in the Bridge program were able to make it to permanent housing which allow them better safety for them and their families.

The bridge program is now working to expand the program to provide additional solutions for those facing homelessness. “Family Promise of Brevard and the South Brevard Sharing Center. This expanded program will use $250,000 in CDBG-CV3 funds and will bring an additional $800,000 into the program”

HUID: The housing and urban development division of brevard country are works to administer a variety of low cost affordable housing. This program helps those not homeless yet by giving them lower cost options. Being able to transition to a low cost housing unit can afford greater financial stability and allow the individual/family to improve their situation. This program is being hindered by the current housing market as the division struggles to bring more housing to those that need it.

During a recent city council meeting many community leaders met to discuss current the current homeless issues in brevard county. Community Development Director Cindy Dittmer presented on the current state of affordable housing in brevard. Right now available housing is low and her group is working on incentives to increase availability. Some of the methods they presented were reducing impact fees and changing building permit processes. The goal of this is to incentivize affordable housing so that the city can work to place more homeless individuals and work with those at risk of becoming homeless.

Per 10,000 people, it is estimated that there are about 12.8 people who are homeless. This is for the entire state of Florida and actually is one of the lesser amounts across the united states.

More specifically, in Brevard county, there has been an large  increase in homelessness since 2018. If this trend continues, the number of homeless people will only increase. While there are current

organizations who are trying to combat the rise of homelessness, however there can be more done.

Additionally, the median price for a single family home has risen 20.3% since last year and for a condo/townhome units has risen 20.5% over the past year. While this may be beneficial for the housing market,

it is not beneficial for anyone who is currently homeless.

Homelessness has affected many Americans directly or indirectly, especially in Brevard. Homeless individuals are people without permanent locations where they can call home. Today, homelessness in Brevard has increased by 13%.

FEMA helps people financial who loses their home after disaster. For example, fair, storm, or pandemic.

My question  …

However, Brevard housing programs are not enough to handle temporary housing needs.

Housing programs in Brevard county includes fair housing, assistance and home repair programs. The fair housing program prohibit denial of home services due to race, color, or place origin . this assistance programs assistnc low and middle income household to secure house at affordable price.

Currently, the Brevard housing department introduced the ERA (Emergency Rental Assistance) program. This program provides temporary financial support to people who have failed to manage their homes or rentals due COVID-19 pandemic.

The Emergency Rental Assistance Program provides financial assistance and housing stability services for those impacted by COVID-19 for Brevard county residents

2. The City of Melbourne’s Emergency Rental, Mortgage, and Public Utilities Assistance Program will provide temporary assistance for rent, mortgage and/or public utilities payments, while funds last. It’s for Melbourne residents only.

3. The City of Titusville’s COVID 19 Emergency Assistance Program assistance for rent, mortgage or utilities under the CARES Act Emergency Assistance Program is accepting applications. It’s for Titusville residents only.

These programs are for people who have recently become unemployed or homeless due to COVID. In other words, these programs did not consider people who were homeless before the COVID broke out.  They also get negative effects by COVID-19. For example, to prevent viruses and to keep distance between people, only more limited people will be able to go to shelters. Therefore, programs should also be made for those who were homeless before the coronavirus outbreak.
