Writing Homework Help
NVC AA Milnes Voice Best Known for The Winnie the Pooh Story Books Notes
The four writers David McCord, Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss), X. J. Kennedy, and Shel Silverstein are touchstones for different kinds of humorous writing. Touchstones means they were the first to show the popularity and success brought by writing in a certain way. They do not exhaust the kinds of humor evident in children’s nonsense works, but they have been models for later writers to follow, sometimes closely and sometimes loosely.
For the THREE of the touchstone writer, find ONE 20th century writer who matches well with the 19th century writer. In a paragraph for each pair of writers, explain the important similarities which connect them in style (the way the poem is written) or in subject matter (the content of the work) or in attitude toward childhood.
