Pick the work of literature that we have covered this semester (anything on the syllabus including films) and in an informative argumentative paper incorporating at least 5 scholarly sources (from library databases including journals, articles and books- ABSOLUTELY no Wikipedia entries can be cited in the paper- you will lose a whole letter grade for not following this instruction), explain to your reader why this work of literature is important to the study of literature. Explain why you believe the work is relevant to most college students and what lessons can be learned from said work of literature. What tactics do you think teachers/professors can apply to make the lesson resound with students so that they will still remember the lesson years later?

An example would be:

David Lynch’s The Elephant Man grapples with many difficult concepts about life but especially bullying and depictions of normalcy. This text can be utilized very effectively in New York public schools, where bullying is an epidemic and can empower students to not be ashamed of whatever visible or invisible disadvantages they have that makes them different from the rest of the world.
