As with any other field, education will experience paradigms shifts. In this discussion you’ll have the opportunity to compare and contrast paradigms in education. Prior to completing this discussion review the Educause (n.d.) webpage and read Trundle (2012).

Initial Post: Create an initial response that includes the following:

Part 1: Past Paradigm Shift

• Identify a past paradigm shift that has occurred in education.
• Explain the past paradigm shift. What did the “previous” and “new” states look like? Why do you think that paradigm shift occurred?
• What were the pros and cons of the past paradigm shift?

Part 2: Current or Future Paradigm Shift

• Identify a current or potential future paradigm shift in education.
• Explain this paradigm shift. What will the “previous” and “new” states look like? Why do you think this paradigm shift will occur?
• What are, or might be, the pros and cons of the current/future paradigm shift?

Part 3: Paradigm Comparison

• Compare the two paradigm shifts.
  • Are there similarities or differences?
  • Did they occur for the same reason?
  • Is there a relationship between the two?

Guided Response: Post responses to at least two classmates. In your response, reflect on your classmate’s responses. Questions you might consider in your response include:

• Do you agree with the paradigm shifts your classmates have identified?
