Houston Community College System Constitutional Carry in Texas Discussion

The Texas legislature recently passed and Governor Greg Abbott singed legislation to allow Texans to carry a firearm without a license, a policy known as constitutional carry.. Anyone 21 years of age or older who is not prohibited by federal or state law from owning a gun can carry a weapon without a license. No longer will Texans have to pass a background check or take a training class to carry a gun.

Do you agree with the legislature’s decision adopt constitutional carry? Why or why not? What is the reasoning behind your position?
