This week, we are focusing on how music transitioned from what we know as the Classical Period (1750-1820), to the Romantic Period (1820-1900). We will do this through a music critique of a work from Beethoven, who is known to be the composer who “built the bridge” from the Classical Period to the Romantic Period. You will want to notice the dynamics (volume), Instruments, tempo (speed) and the emotion of the music. You will be critiquing the first few minutes of Beethoven’s “Fifth Symphony”.
