Deanza College Covid 19 Pandemic Creating In Person Close Relationships Discussion
Description
1) What is your proposal claim?
Tip: Be as specific as possible. The grade rubric offers this formula for your thesis: 1) who or what 2) should do what. Aim to state your thesis that identifies both 1) and 2). If the who or what in 1) is the government, be sure to specify which government. In the U.S. there are federal, state, county, and civic/local governments; part of your research and knowledge of the problem or issue will be to determine what jurisdiction it falls under and to identify that governmental entity.
2) Find an Article in a Substantive Newspaper
- Choose a major newspaper like the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, or Los Angeles Times.
- Go to Google.com and type in the name of the newspaper or use one of the hyperlinks above.
- Look for a search box (most major newspapers have search boxes). Search for an article relevant to your topic by typing keywords into the search box. Remember that newspapers include both reports (which are intended to be objective) and editorials/opinion pieces (which are intended to persuade the audience of the writer’s opinion). Either type of article is acceptable. Just remember that an opinion piece is an argument and while it may address and respond to opposing views, it will not objectively report the pros and cons of an issue (because this isn’t the purpose of an argument!)
