Essay #4: an analysis of late 19th/early 20th century attitudes about European imperialism. The first is a poem, “The White Man’s Burden”, by Rudyard Kipling, published in 1899. The second is an excerpt from “The Black Man’s Burden” published in 1903, by British journalist Edward Morel.
