ECE 220 Grand Canyon Grade Level of Instruction and Tiered Intervention Essay

Allocate at least 2 hours in the field to support this field experience.

The early childhood years are crucial for laying a foundation for learning. Many factors can impair development during these important years. When young children are not meeting developmental milestones and learning goals, intervention may be necessary. As a teacher of young children, you will be responsible for intervening with strategies appropriate for the student and family.

Observe your mentor teacher implementing one or more interventions or modifications with students in the classroom. During the observation, document how the students respond to the interventions/modifications. Assist with implementing the interventions or modifications, if possible. Following the observation and assistance, discuss the interventions or modifications with your mentor teacher.

Spend any remaining field experience hours observing and assisting the teacher in providing instruction and support to the class.

In 250-500 words, summarize and reflect on the intervention strategies or modifications you observed and/or helped to implement. In what areas of need was the intervention/modification intended to help the students? Did the intervention/modification appear to be successful? How do you know? How will you use this in your future professional practice?
