JOUR 100 UCLA Media Censorship Regulations and Self Regulations PPT

make a Power Point for presentation

just do as much as you can in 1 day, It is fine if you cant answer all questions. Just let me know you have problem with which question. i will do the rest part. Thanks!

The focus of this group project is to show me what you know about censorship, regulation and self regulation

Some questions your project should seek to answer:

  1. First, define what censorship, regulation, and self regulation each are, according to our course.
  2. What is film subject to–censorship, regulation or self regulation? Why?
  3. What is radio subject to–censorship, regulation or self regulation? Why?
  4. What is TV subject to–censorship, regulation or self regulation? Why?
  5. Going back to your answer for radio, to what degree do things change in regards to censorship, regulation or self regulation when we are talking about satellite radio as opposed to traditional radio?
  6. With TV, to what degree do things change when we are talking about cable television, as opposed to traditional broadcast? How do things change around censorship, regulation or self regulation, if at all, when we are discussing streaming services?
  7. Now, let’s think more deeply about self regulation. This probably means that a certain branch of the media monitors itself, perhaps though an industry organization. But what role does the consumer (you!) and the distributor (such as a store like Walmart selling or not selling DVDs) play in self regulation?
  8. Has this branch always had/ever had First Amendment protection? Since when? How has this impacted the type of monitoring (censorship, regulation, self regulation)? If there is censorship or regulation with a particular branch (film, radio, TV), what is the justification that circumvents the First Amendment protections?
  9. Are there legal battles that each branch has gone through around censorship, regulation and self regulation? Describe some of these (including when they happened.)
  10. Has anything changed over time for the type of monitoring the branch has?

Some things the project should include (beyond answering the questions above):

  1. evidence of creativity in doing the project: the inclusion of photos, diagrams, videos, games, etc. (made by you or curated from other sites) to demonstrate understanding of the core concepts and to provide examples from the media
  2. evidence that you know what you are talking about (screenshots of websites, articles, or resources included in the project as photos)
