ENG 111 Virginia Tech Annotated Bibliography Research Paper

1)My research topic is “should being a legacy student or from a high income, donating family be a factor in student acceptance and student accommodation in the college educational system.”

3) Before reading my audience will think that some students don’t get accepted because of they may not have had enough community hours, may not have been in enough clubs, or may have gotten a bad grade in a class one year. After reading they will realize that some students get higher acceptance priority based on their or their parents socioeconomic status and how wealthy they may be or if their parents attended and donate to the school.

4) The purpose of my paper is to exploit how common these factors come into play and how the college educational and acceptance system can be very corrupt and unfair to certain families who don’t meet some universities unorthodox needs.

5) My paper addresses the question “How valid is the college acceptance process” “What are the true things colleges care about when enrolling students” “How common is the wealthy and second generation given priority in the college educational system”

6) Yes colleges give more attention and priority to second generation and wealthy families who donate money to the university, because colleges care about money over everything. This IS TO Help WIth the following assignment.

Assignment Requirements

Your Annotated Bibliography will need to include entries for 3 sources (one of which must be peer-reviewed). Each entry will include an APA-style reference and a 2 paragraph annotation that summarizes and evaluates.

Source requirements — Although the final essay must employ 4 sources , you are only required to include 3 sources for this assignment–because it is expected that you will add to and revise this list as your research process unfolds. One of your sources must be a peer-reviewed journal article. We will discuss what this means in class and go over how to find peer-reviewed articles in our library’s databases. Finally, while you may use one of our class readings for your Research Project, you may not use a class reading as one of the three sources in your Annotated Bibliography.

Annotation Requirements — In your annotation, summarize the source using the same strategies we used for the Summary Paragraph assignments. Identify the source’s rhetorical purpose and primary message. If the source offers an argument, discuss the evidence used to support the main argument. Evaluate the source, focusing particularly on how the source is relevant, credible, and useful for your project.

Instructions:

Use library resources to help you locate sources.

Read all your sources (perhaps a couple times)

Compose APA-style references for the three sources that you have located.

Compose a 2 paragraph annotation for each source. Summarize and evaluate each source.

References should appear in alphabetical order. Annotations come immediately after their respected references.

You must specify which source is peer reviewed in your summary paragraph.

See the rubric below for grading criteria. Please note that you will be assessed based upon the quality of your sources, the strength of your annotations, and the correctness of your APA-style references.

Your assignment needs to be submitted on time. There will be a 5-point penalty applied for each day the assignment is late. Assignments submitted a week after the deadline will not be accepted. For more about  the assignment submission policy in First-Year Writing, please consult the course syllabus.
